A beautiful beach with vast sandy shore and shallow water. Gathering shellfish and surfing are popular, and it is growing a new beach culture involving sports, music, and art.
“It is a beautiful beach with shallow, clear waves along a vast sandy shore of about 350 meters from east to west and about one kilometer from north to south. Due to the breakwater at Oarai Port, sand gathered on the southern shore and formed a vast beach. This new shore was opened as Oarai Sun Beach in Showa 59.
This vast, flat sandy shore environment has evolved into a barrier-free beach with the philosophy of a safe and comfortable model beach. Today, the universal beach philosophy of “”multi-purpose beach for all people”” is spreading. While the beach is famous for sea bathing, gathering shellfish, surfing, and the Oarai Marine Fireworks Festival, in recent years new beach cultures have emerged on the vast sandy shore, such as sandy shore libraries, T-shirt exhibitions that roll in the wind, and the Oarai Night Wave.”
